Museum of Latin American Art

The last museum i visited was MOLLA. This was probably my favorite out of the three. The art was more current and it to me it was very loud and in your face. It really showed what Latin American art was all about and its all in their culture. They had tv screens playing Spanish kids shows which i thought was very unique to an art museum and was a very nice touch.

A piece that stuck out to me was this house that was blowing up but its frozen in time.

Another one that caught my attention was this llama standing on the hill top at first it looks like a mundane picture but it actually captures the whole back of a mountain side, i thought it was very beautifully done.

Bowers Museum

At this museum i first looked at the Polynesian art which was tribal and kind of stereotypical artifacts but none the less, the exhibit was pretty engaging. They had many spears and such and also a good amount of tiki type statues. It was interesting how all these pieces were from such a vast area in the Pacific Ocean from Hawaii all the way to Australia.

I then headed over to the Italian and Native American section where i absolutely loved the Italian art. My favorite type of art is like old European work, that's why i enjoyed that exhibit. The native American stuff was just not my taste of art, im sure its good to other people but i was not feeling it.
This museum was not particularly big so i was in and out pretty fast. But i did enjoy this one.

Norton Simon Museum Project

This Norton Simon was a particularly good museum due to the fact that it had a good variety of work. The first exhibit i looked at was the Christian art. There was a lot of depictions of Jesus and his disciples and them doing something. There also were many statues of Mary and other women of that time period, it was really interesting. The next one i visited was the Asian stone and wood carvings. What amazed me about this section was the intricacy of all the carvings. With little technology these people had they still managed to foster such outstanding pieces.

My favorite art of the museum was the section with art of just people working and just depictions of everyday people doing everyday things. It shows reality in a new light, any artwork like this is just my favorite.
